Terms of Use / End User License Agreement

These Terms of Use / End User License Agreement („Terms“) govern your use of the IEC 61850 Browser app (the „App“), provided by RelayGuard („we“, „us“, or „our“).

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

  1. Description of the App

IEC 61850 Browser is a professional application intended to support inspection, browsing, analysis, testing, engineering-related access, and related workflows for IEC 61850 environments and associated devices.

The App is intended for professional and technically qualified users.

  1. Authorized use

The App may only be used by qualified and authorized personnel who understand the operational, technical, and safety implications of interacting with electrical automation, protection, control, communication, and related engineering systems.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the App is lawful, safe, and authorized in your environment.

  1. No guarantee of fitness for safety-critical operation

The App is provided as a professional support tool. It is not a substitute for operational safety procedures, protection concepts, site rules, manufacturer instructions, engineering verification, or mandatory testing and approval procedures.

You must independently verify all results, settings, files, communications, and actions before relying on them in any operational, commissioning, maintenance, or engineering context.

  1. Trial and subscription

The App may offer a free trial period and/or paid auto-renewable subscriptions.

Current commercial model:

  • 7-day free full-feature trial for new users
  • yearly auto-renewable subscription after the trial period, unless canceled in accordance with Apple’s subscription rules

Prices, billing terms, and renewal details are shown in the App and in the App Store purchase flow.

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in your Apple App Store account settings after purchase.

  1. Apple standard terms

If required by Apple, your use of the App is also subject to the applicable Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement and App Store terms.

  1. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for your own internal professional use in accordance with these Terms.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App except as permitted by law
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except where explicitly permitted by applicable law
  • rent, lease, sublicense, distribute, or resell the App
  • use the App in a way that violates applicable law, regulations, third-party rights, or site-specific authorization requirements

8. User responsibility

    You are solely responsible for:

    • all files, projects, settings, exports, and engineering data you use with the App
    • verifying compatibility with your devices and infrastructure
    • maintaining backups of important files and configurations
    • confirming the correctness of results before operational use
    • preventing unauthorized access to your device and exported data

    9. Availability and changes

      We may update, improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the App at any time, with or without notice, to the extent permitted by law.

      We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

      1. Third-party systems and equipment

      The App may interoperate with third-party devices, IEDs, relays, servers, files, or engineering systems. We are not responsible for the availability, behavior, security, compatibility, or correctness of third-party systems or data.

      1. Intellectual property

      The App, including its software, design, content, branding, and related materials, is owned by or licensed to RelayGuard and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

      All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

      1. Disclaimer

      To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided „as is“ and „as available“ without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, non-infringement, and accuracy.

      We do not warrant that:

      • the App will be error-free or uninterrupted
      • the App will be compatible with all devices, files, or systems
      • results produced by the App will be complete, accurate, or suitable for any specific operational purpose

      14. Limitation of liability

        To the maximum extent permitted by law, RelayGuard shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

        • loss of data
        • loss of profits
        • business interruption
        • system downtime
        • engineering errors
        • commissioning delays
        • damage resulting from misuse, misconfiguration, or unauthorized use

        Our total liability for claims arising out of or relating to the App shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the App subscription during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or the minimum amount required by applicable law, whichever is greater.

        1. Termination

        These Terms remain in effect until terminated by you or us.

        We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or if required for legal, security, or operational reasons.

        Upon termination, the license granted to you ends immediately.

        1. Export control and compliance

        You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including export control, sanctions, technical compliance, and local authorization requirements.

        1. Governing law

        These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Germany, excluding conflict of law rules, unless mandatory consumer laws require otherwise.
